The Tennessee Volunteers are the athletic teams that represent the University of Tennessee, located in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Volunteers compete in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) at the NCAA Division I level. Tennessee fields teams in a wide variety of sports, including football, basketball, baseball, and more.
One of the most notable achievements of the Tennessee Volunteers was their run to the national championship game in the 1998 NCAA men's basketball tournament. The team, led by head coach Jerry Green, made a surprising run through the tournament and became the first team in NCAA history to reach the national championship game as a five seed.
